Why I Built It
The useful part happens offline: choosing parts, solving a build, and making something together. The website should help a family get started, then get out of the way.
Brio Builder is a live website where families can browse approved creations, follow building ideas, and submit their own work without advertising or visitor tracking.
What I Designed and Built
- A curated gallery of family-safe creations.
- A submission flow for one photo, a title, and a short description.
- Extension login, remote QR login, and a browser-only local account option.
- A moderation queue so submissions are approved before publication.
- Kit discovery and links to available sets.
Privacy Decisions
Photos are processed in the browser before upload so GPS and other embedded metadata are removed. The site does not run ads or visitor analytics. A local account stays in the browser unless the person chooses another sign-in method.
Why Nostr Is Used
Nostr handles identity, signed submissions, and moderation events. Content can be synchronized across relays instead of depending on one private account database. Blossom provides media storage with a fallback path if one host is unavailable.
Moderation Flow
A submission does not appear in the gallery automatically. It enters a curator-only queue, where it can be approved or rejected. The public gallery applies those moderation decisions when it loads content from the relays.
Current Result
Brio Builder is live at buildbrio.com. Browsing, accounts, submissions, moderation, and kit discovery all work. My next step is to learn how families actually use it and where they get stuck.
